The following comics represent the executive branch and the bureaucracy .
This political cartoon takes a jab at the obama administration. It deplicts obama chopping off the other branches and strong holding all the power for the executive branch. There has been some debate and criticism about president obama executive action especially because of changes he made to the affordable care act and his creation of another form of executive orders. In order for a balance to be met in the us government all branches must be accountable via checks and balances. The president has the power as commander and chief, to appoint judges, ambassadors, and officials, executive order, to grant pardons ,executive privilege, and state of the union. In addition, the president has implied powers that make him the chief of state, diplomat, and executive , among many other titles. This political cartoon is criticizing obama's way of handling the large amount of power given to him as president. The leaves of the executive "branch" of the tree of united states government represent the agencies of the bureaucracy. In the cartoon, the president has cut off the judicial a branch and goes on the cut the legislative branch, showing obamas claim in politics as a head of state that neglects the other parties in making decisions. In recent news, this cartoon can stand true due to obamas pressure on the other branches to claim power. He has neglected both the judiciary and the legislative branch and has threatened congress publicly in order to influence public policy to sway towards his political agenda.
This political cartoon is a jab on the federal bureaucracy. Some may call it another "arm" of the executive branch because it plays a large role in executive action. The federal bureaucracy is made up of government or organizations, committees, cabinets, and agencies. The purpose of the bureaucracy is to regulate specific jobs by breaking down topics of public policy into different categories. This ensures that different needs no matter how small of the public are met. In this cartoon, the bureaucracy is being criticized for being so broken up. Jobs or categories are being broken up to an unnecessary extent, as viewed by the political cartoonist. However, i believe the bureaucracy has its purpose to break up things in order to meet the needs of the public. With out breaking policies up to this extent small scale issues would never be dealt with. The president cannot work alone to make the executive branch. It is with the help of the bureaucracy that the branch remains balanced in ensuring and monitoring policies and laws in order to maintain civil rights and liberties.
